Emerge Mural project

Emerge 2024 - Murals Image.jpg

Calling all artists!

Willoughby City Council is seeking artists to design and produce large-scale murals in the Willoughby local government area as part of the 2024 Emerge Festival. Artworks must celebrate diversity.

Council recognises that street art significantly enhances the uniqueness, vibrancy and aesthetic of our public places and builds a sense of community pride among local residents.

Willoughby is a city of diversity: diverse landscapes, people and businesses. Willoughby’s diversity underpins our liveable and prosperous city. Our people are from across the world as reflected in the diversity of their languages and beliefs.

Applications are open now until Friday 2 August with murals installed in September and unveiled early October. Willoughby City Council encourages artists of all genders, ethnicity and applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

8 buildings have been shortlisted to host the Emerge Mural. Artists are encouraged to design concepts for one or more buildings.
